In October 2016, the city of Rio de Janeiro will host one of the biggest events in the mining sector – the World Mining Congress – WMC 2016. The 24th edition of this event will be promoted by the Brazilian Mining Association – IBRAM, and shall continue to focus its efforts on promoting and providing techno-scientific support for cooperation in support of progress in mining and the development of natural mineral resources.

The World Mining Congress is a world event on mining that takes place every 3 years. Led by a secretariat with organisational status, it is associated with the United Nations and is located in the Central Mining Institute, in the city of Katowice, Poland.

Its goal is to promote and support cooperation, both technically and scientifically, for national and international progress in mining and natural mineral resources.Since its first edition in 1958, WMC has been establishing a world exchange network in various areas of knowledge: science, technology, economics, health and safety in mining activities, and environmental protection. It is a great opportunity to learn about and follow projects that are developed by professionals who, in the most part, work in one of its 42 member countries.
