Graphite First: Building Europe’s Battery Backbone

Euromines celebrates its 30th anniversary

Euromines will mark its 30th anniversary on 22 April 2026 with a high-level policy event at the Residence Palace in Brussels. For three decades, Euromines has been the voice of the European mining industry, championing responsible resource management, innovation, and sustainability, and fostering constructive dialogue with European institutions and stakeholders.

This milestone is not only a moment to celebrate past achievements but also an opportunity to look forward and shape the future of mining in Europe. The event will revolve around the theme of “The Mine of the Future”, exploring how cutting-edge technologies, sustainable practices, and strategic visions are transforming the industry.

Participants can look forward to a dynamic programme featuring a keynote by European Commission Executive Vice-President Stéphane Séjourné and an engaging panel discussion from Members of the European Parliament. The event will highlight how the mining industry is adapting to the challenges of climate change, resource efficiency, and digital transformation, while continuing to play a crucial role in Europe’s economy and society.

Mineral Industry Days 2026

Mineral Industry Days will be held on 13–14 April 2026 in Oslo, Norway, bringing together professionals from across Europe and beyond for two days of dialogue, knowledge-sharing, and debate. This event is the result of a joint effort between Euromines, Aggregates Europe and the Norwegian Mineral Industry.

In a context of geopolitical tension, climate urgency, and growing demand for secure and responsible resource supply, the event will focus on the role of Europe’s mineral industry in shaping a sustainable and resilient future.

Under the theme “Sustainability and Preparedness”, discussions will explore how the extractive sector – including minerals and aggregates – contributes to Europe’s security, economic stability, and green transition. Sessions will address best practices, policy developments, and challenges from local operations to global supply chains.

The programme will also feature a conference dinner, offering an opportunity for informal networking and celebrating the strength and diversity of the European mineral industry.

In light of the increasing security challenges, the security of supply for raw materials, particularly those for defence, is a pressing issue for the European Union. Mining’s Role in Circular Economy: Euromines at EU Green Week 2025

On Wednesday, 18 June 2025, from 10:00 to 12:00 (CET), Euromines will host an official EU Green Week Partner Event titled “Mining’s contribution to Circular Economy in Europe: Ensuring Balance and Efficiency” exploring the mining sector’s essential role in Europe’s circular economy. Held online via LinkedIn Live and YouTube Live, the workshop will bring together EU policymakers, industry leaders, researchers and environmental stakeholders for a focused discussion on sustainable raw materials and resource efficiency.

As Europe intensifies its commitment to circularity under the European Green Deal and the Critical Raw Materials Act, the event will underline the importance of maintaining a balanced approach between primary and secondary raw materials. The programme will feature keynote presentations of case studies on the re-use of mining waste and innovative recycling solutions, followed by a high-level panel discussion on sustainable waste management and decarbonisation in the sector.

Speakers will include representatives from the European Commission, European Parliament, leading mining companies and academia. The event will be moderated by Euromines’ Environmental, Health and Safety Manager, Cynthia Mestanza.
